Grinch Cookies – “Now that’s Holiday”!

At our house we are very aware of the “Reason for the Season”.  We have two mangers that are among the first holiday decorations to be unpacked each year. But along with the seriousness and importance of the holiday season, we are big fans of the Grinch.  How the Grinch Stole Christmas won again as our first holiday movie viewed to kick off the season.  Along with the viewing of this holiday classic we recommend some Grinch cookies and green milk.

Supplies Needed for Grinch Cookies:

  1. Any cookie recipe you desire. (We used Chocolate Chip-click here if you want an easy, but good recipe).
  2. Green Food Coloring.
  3. Heart Sprinkles.

Instructions for making Grinch Cookies:

  1. Follow your cookie recipe up to the point that you would begin placing dough onto a cookie sheet.
  2. Add approximately 10 drops of green food coloring per 2-3 cups of flour in your recipe.  If you follow our chocolate chip cookie recipe, then add 20 drops of green food coloring.  Blend the food coloring into your mix well, then proceed with remainder of your recipe instructions.
  3. Once cookies come out of the oven and have begun to cool, you can add one heart sprinkle per Grinch cookie to represent the Grinch’s tiny, shrunken heart before his transformation.

Grinch Cookie Tips:

  • Don’t over cook the cookies or the green part will start to turn brown.
  • Feel free to add a few drops of the green food coloring to some milk to enjoy Grinch Milk along with your Grinch Cookies.
  • No matter how enticing that green chocolate chip cookie dough looks, try to wait until the cookies come out of the oven, as it is dangerous to eat raw cookie dough that contains raw egg.
